Call for papers: The Digitalization of Work: Identities, Power and Well-Being in the Age of AI
A call for papers for new special issue of Journal Challenges of the Future titled “The Digitalization of Work: Identities, Power, and Well-Being in the Age of AI” has been announced, inviting scholars to submit original research examining how rapid technological change is reshaping labor in contemporary societies.
The call highlights the accelerating impact of artificial intelligence, automation, and platform-based models on professional identities, workplace dynamics, and the distribution of value and recognition. The editors encourage theoretical and empirical contributions across organizational, educational, anthropological, sociological, and other multidisciplinary fields. Suggested areas of inquiry include the transformation of labor roles, the influence of new technologies on subjectivity and autonomy, and emerging inequalities linked to algorithmic management and AI-driven systems.
Special attention is invited for research focused on education, platform labor, and knowledge-intensive professions—sectors where digital transformation is particularly impactful.
The submission deadline for manuscripts and abstracts is December 31, 2025, with notifications expected in early 2026 and publication planned for spring 2026. All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Accepted papers may include empirical studies, theoretical analyses, comparative research, or reflective essays ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 words
The journal is indexed in DOAJ, EBSCO, ASCI-Database, DDH, COBISS, dLib, Google Scholar, ICI World of Journals, MIAR, WorldCat (OCLC), and QOAM, ensuring wide visibility and discoverability within the research community.
