FOŠ Co-Created a Highly Successful International Event
On 10 December 2025, the Faculty of Organisation Studies in Novo mesto successfully co-organized an international online event, the Policy Hackathon, conducted within the European TRANSFORM project, co-funded by the EU CERV programme. The event brought together nearly 100 participants from 12 different countries across the globe, demonstrating strong international interest in topics related to the future of work, technological change, and public policy development.
We were especially honoured by the participation of Ms. Tina Seršen, State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy, whose presence emphasized the importance of involving diverse stakeholders in shaping sustainable and socially responsible policies.
Objectives and Content of the Event
The Policy Hackathon aimed to encourage discussion on the challenges posed by rapid technological change and on how individuals, organizations, and countries can effectively prepare for emerging new jobs. Through structured group discussions, participants explored key themes, including:
- the development of essential skills and competencies for the future,
- workforce adaptability to digital and technological transformations,
- strengthening cooperation between educational institutions, employers, and policymakers,
- the role of public policies in supporting innovation, digitalization, and a just green transition.
Participants examined real-world cases and challenges, shared experiences from different countries, and formulated proposals on how societies and employees can best seize the opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The Role of the TRANSFORM Project
The event is part of the TRANSFORM project, which aims to enhance societal resilience during periods of rapid technological change and to prepare the workforce for emerging competencies and occupations. FOŠ participates in the project as a partner, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nadia Molek, higher education teacher and researcher, serving as the project lead at FOŠ.
The project combines research, international cooperation, and the development of practical solutions that can contribute to better policymaking at local, national, and European levels.
