UNM FOS Researchers Participate in the 23rd IFAC World Congress in South Korea
From 23 to 28 August 2026, the 23rd IFAC World Congress is taking place at the BEXCO Convention Centre in Busan, South Korea. Organised every three years by the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), the congress is one of the world’s most important scientific events in the fields of automation, control systems, and advanced technological solutions.
We are especially proud that the University of Novo mesto, Faculty of Organisation Studies (UNM FOS) is also represented at this prestigious international event.
Researchers from the Faculty presented two scientific papers at the congress. Dr Lejla Imamović Lerić and Assistant Professor Dr Mihael Nedeljko are the authors of the scientific paper The Role of ICT in Empowering Rural Communities: Reducing Social Isolation and Enhancing Local Resilience – Literature Review, which explores the role of information and communication technologies in empowering rural communities, reducing social isolation, and strengthening local resilience.
The second scientific contribution was presented by Associate Professor Dr Boris Miha Kaučič and Assistant Professor Dr Mihael Nedeljko. The research addresses current issues at the intersection of digital transformation, an ageing workforce, and psychosocial well-being, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities that technological change brings to contemporary society.
This year's edition of the congress is the largest in its history. The event brings together 4,617 registered participants from 74 countries, while the programme includes 3,081 scientific contributions and 495 technical sessions, reflecting the highly international and interdisciplinary nature of the congress.
Participation in such a distinguished event represents an important opportunity to showcase the research achievements of UNM FOŠ in an international environment, exchange scientific knowledge, engage in discussions with leading experts, and strengthen existing as well as establish new research connections. Through such activities, the Faculty continues to reinforce its role in the international research community and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in fields that are shaping the future of society and organisations.
Congratulations to our researchers on the successful presentation of their scientific work and their important contribution to the international visibility of UNM FOS!
