Tutoring

At FOŠ, tutoring provides systematic support to students in their studies and academic development. The tutoring system is designed to:

• support students throughout their studies,
• improve progression to higher years,
• advise on the selection of elective courses,
• assist with individual subjects or professional practice, and
• encourage participation in extracurricular activities.

Teaching and introductory student tutoring

Teacher tutoring is provided regularly; other forms are organised as needed. Upon enrolment in the first year (or the second year in the case of transfer), each student is assigned a teacher tutor, who guides up to 30 students throughout their studies at a given level. A tutor’s group may include students from different years of study.

FOŠ teacher tutors are:

• zasl. prof. dr. Boris Bukovec - tutor teacher in the first-cycle study program (VS)
• prof. Dr (PhD, ZDA) Annmarie Gorenc Zoran - tutor teacher in the second-cycle study program (MAG)
• prof. dr. (EdD, VB) Tatjana Dragovič, zasl. prof. dr. Boris Bukovec - tutor teacher in the third-cycle study program (DR)

Introductory student tutoring

Introductory student tutoring provides additional support in understanding and mastering the study material of individual courses or groups of courses.

Subject-specific student tutoring

This form of tutoring is organised for subjects with demanding or extensive material, or at the discretion of the tutoring committee. It helps students gain a deeper understanding of specific content.

Tutoring for students with special needs

Tutoring for students with special needs helps them adapt quickly and integrate successfully into their studies and student life.The main tasks of a tutor for students with special needs are to provide assistance in adapting the method of study that is most appropriate for the student with special needs and to refer the student with special needs to the appropriate professional counseling services in a timely manner to resolve any problems that arise during their studies.

Tutoring for foreign students

Tutoring for foreign students supports exchange participants at FOŠ. Its purpose is to help students overcome cultural differences and adapt to life in Slovenia.

Tutors for foreign students:

• establish contact before arrival in Slovenia,
• provide help with administrative matters, and
• assist with integration into student life.

Special forms of tutoring

FOŠ may also develop special forms of tutoring to help students during their studies.
